New website and recent visitor

Clark has been very busy putting together this new website. The old one was done by a wonderful Marine mom over ten years ago. When Clark took over it was difficult to add pictures, comments etc. Having everything in one place and putting together a cleaner website was our first priority. You will have to let us know what you think.

On March 4th we had the most exciting visitor. Capt. David Collins who was the Executive Officer at the Kadahar, Afghanistan NATO hospital. Capt. Collins gave a presentation at Island Quilters. We had over 100 attendees. He talked about how important the quilts were to our wounded warriors. I do have to say he lit a fire under all of us. We did have some difficulty getting him to stay near the microphone but if you would like to hear his talk please go to Capt. Collins on Vashon Island.

  1. I just wanted to say thanks for the quilt. I was injuries in Afghanistan with a room filled of other soldiers also injured and they laid this quilt on me in the bed. It was a comforting feeling, I just remember how bright and colorful it was ( in the dessert everything is neutral color or dirty). I still sleep with it every night. Again thanks

    1. We are so glad that the quilt brought you comfort Nathaniel. Hope you are doing much better. We mean for the quilts to bring you hugs and comfort every day.

  2. I’m so glad to see the new website. I really enjoyed hearing Captain Collins on Vashon and seeing so many other Hero Quilters. Always so good to see Sue, Clark, Sally, Ione and the rest. Hugs to you all as well as all the heroes we make quilts for.

  3. Thank you for sharing the visit from Captain Collins. I was unable to come that day, so very much appreciated seeing the video. Let’s keep those quilts coming. God bless our troops.
